Because it is important to give the artist credit for creative accomplishments, the paragraph below was taken from Rena Small’s web page:
It should be noted that Julius Shuman believed that Rena Small is a very talented artist.

Rena Small is a conceptual artist, using photography and painting to communicate to the audience: Note: Art may be defined as the conscious use of skill, taste and creative imagination in the production of aesthetic objects; also: works so produced by Small use painting, photography, installation, and collage: a skillful plan: SKILL stresses technical knowledge and proficiency; CUNNING suggest ingenuity and subtlety in devising, inventing or executing; art, or cunning, artifice, craft mean the faculty of performing what is devised.
I have looked closely at the mysterious presence of human emotions veiled in the hands, the essential tools of all artists. I am devoted to the photography of hands as a primary part of my artistic vision over my lifetime. Artists’ Hands highlights portraits of hands, not faces, as another reservoir of personal expression. I choose artists who have accomplished bodies of work. To me, hands are a study of the human soul reflected in the mirror of my camera.
