Born in Charleston, South Carolina on September 8, 1895, Freed became one of the most important song writers in Hollywood.
Credited for helping the careers of Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne, Howard Keel, Zero Mostel, June Allyson, Vincent Minnelli and many more, Freed died in Los Angeles on April 12, 1973 at the age of 78.
