In 2005 Shulman sold his over 275,000.00 negatives to the Getty Museum located in Los Angeles. Shulman was also the official photographer of the Getty Center.
Established in 1997 at 1200 Getty Center Drive in Los Angeles, the project was masterfully designed by architect Richard Meier started in 1984. The Art Museum campus is on 24 acres of the 110 acre site in the Santa Monica Mountains. Additional 600 acres surrounding the museum are kept natural. Construction costs rose to over 449 million with the total expenses rising above 773 million. Today the value of the center is estimated at over 4 billion. 115 million for land and site work, 30 million for fixtures and equipment, 139 million for insurance, architects fees, permits and engineers.
The center consists of 5 public buildings and two 2 story towers. 2nd floors are connected by glass enclosed bridges and open terraces. Lower level includes a public cafeteria, Terrace coffee shop and photographic galleries.
