Located at 103rd. Street and Compton Avenue in the city of Compton, California, (Los Angeles), The Hacienda  Village Housing Project was completed in 1942.
Built of wood frame, stucco exteriors and composition roofing, the 17.63 acre project consisted of 184 single story units and cost $503,000 to complete. First choice for renting was given to defence workers who lived in sub standard housing.
The name was changed to Gonzaque Village in 2000 to honor long time neighborhood advocate Ozie B. Gonzaque.  

Two Gelatin Silver Prints: Unframed, 11 x 14 in, (27.94 x 35.56 cm). Shulman's studio stamp, handwritten "Channel Heights" in pensil and job number handwritten in ink on verso.
Signature stamped on verso by Julius Shulman at his Hollywood Hills Studio.
