Robinson’s Beverly Hills opened on Feb. 13, 1952. Robinson’s Beverly Hills was built at a cost of $6 million. The architect-engineers were Charles O. Matcham, Charles Luckman and William Pereira, an L.A. architect who also designed the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art complex and CBS’ Television City. Raymond Loewy and Associates, designers of the Lucky Strike logo and the Sears Coldspot refrigerator designed the interiors. Florence Yoch and Lucile Council designed the gardens.
This symbol of elegance was demolished in 2014 to make room for 234 condominiums.
