Angel’s Flight is a short, cable railway built on an inclined with two trams that counter balance each other. The two cars of Angels Flight are named Sinai and Olivet.
Built into a hillside in Downtown Los Angeles, the top location is at 350 S. Grand Ave. and the lower location is at 351 S. Hill St. (across from Grand Central Market). Angels Flight is only 298 feet long, but it’s steep. Angels Flight opened in 1901 at a different location half a block away. Both a tourist attraction and a practical way for pedestrians, its located at one of Downtown L.A.’s steepest streets. Closed in 1969, Angels Flight had several owners over the years. The railway started operating again in 1996 when Sinai and Olivet came out of storage. Several new safety features where added at that time. Angels Flight designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #4.
