Originally designed by Richard Neutra at the base of the bluffs of the Santa Monica Mountains in 1938 as the Lewin Residence, the new owners in 1998 purchased the lot next door and asked architect Steven Ehrlich to add a complimentary 3000 square feet addition. The addition was built next to the original 6,000 square foot house. The new building was crated with frame less glass, exposed structural steel and poured concrete which gave the building its own character. Also added, was an entertainment pavilion which was enclosed on three sides by glass and linked to the original building with an arched glass bridge. Important to the owners was to add another 8 car parking area with a 3 car garage and storage, housekeeper’s quarters above the garage. A large entertainment area was requested.
