Richard Lee Dorman graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in Architecture in 1951 after being a pilot in World War II. After becoming assistant director of design with the Welton D. Becket’s company, he started his own firm in 1956. After designing several mid-century homes in Trousdale Estates, in 1968 he appeared on the cover of LIFE magazine. Dorman also designed the Los Angeles International Design Center in West Hollywood and the Papermate Building in Santa Monica. In 1966 he designed the Seidenbaum Residence located on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles. In 1975, he sold his practice and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. He passed away April 3, 2010.
