With the success of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley Ski Resort located in Olympic Valley, California became a major ski resort. Located in the Lake Tahoe area, the resort originally boasted 30 chairlifts and 3,600 acres but has now been expanded to 6,000 acres, 43 lifts and over 270 trails.
