Born in Dusseldorf, Germany, actress Luise Rainer trained with Max Reinhardt. She appeared in films before arriving in Hollywood in the mid 1930’s. She was considered the new Garbo. Rainer won two successive Academy Awards for The Great Ziegfeld (1936) and The Good Earth (1937).
