Philip Johnson was born July 8, 1906 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed on January 25, 2005. He graduated from Harvard and served in the US Army from 1940 till 1943.
The Glass House was designed during 1947-1948 and completed in 1949. In 1986 Johnson donated the Glass House, to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Located in New Canaan, Connecticut, it is only an hour from New York.
Julius Shulman received a special “Glass” award while attending this event. The award can be seen on this website. These cards were given to Shulman while at the event.
